When Adobe announced they no longer intend to support CS2 they saved loads on updating their server. They did however also LOOSE a whole bunch of copyright protection. If they could have dumped it off the web, no doubt they would but the web is not like that so they rely on rumor and bluster to keep some control but legally, they lost control.
